Answers
1. Why should I use a WingCinema Movie Event Kit instead of playing a DVD I rented or purchased?
WingCinema has made hosting a Movie Event fast and convenient for anyone to use.
Home videos or DVDs, whether purchased or rented, are intended for personal, home use only. Viewing outside the home requires a license granting specific authorization. This is the case for each organization that uses videos/DVDs, even for nonprofit groups, and even if admission is not being charged. The Copyright Act of 1976 states that pre-recorded videocassettes and videodiscs (DVDs) are for home use only, unless you have permission to show them in public. Without permission, you may be in violation of the Copyright Act and subject to substantial penalties.
WingCinema has already obtained permission from the movie studios, distribution companies, and/or filmmakers, so you can use our WingCinema Movie Event Kit DVD for public showings, so long as you adhere to all terms and conditions stated in the event site license.
2. Do I need a CVLI license to host a Movie Event?
No. The event site license included with our Movie Event Kits grant permission to publicly exhibit the film included in the kit for an unlimited number of showings during its 6-month term. Please note that no other visual media licensing service, such as CVLI or MPCL, can grant you permission to exhibit the purchased film; and consumer DVDs are for private home use only.
3. How do you determine pricing?
The Movie Event Kits are priced according to indented audience size. We offer three different prices:
Feature-Length films
- $99—for intended audiences of up to 99
- $149—for intended audiences of 100 – 199
- $199—for intended audiences of 200 or more
DVDs
Because DVD prices and licensing are determined by the distributor, they are unique for each film.
We offer individual copies of DVDs at suggested retail price, but we also offer a Bulk Purchasing Program for packs of 10 DVDs and cases of 30 DVDs, which are sold at a substantial discount from the suggested retail price.
4. How do I access the downloadable resources?
Downloadable resources (posters, bulletin inserts, tickets, film clips and the trailer) are accessible, after you have purchased a Movie Event Kit.
When you place an order, a user account is automatically created for you. To access the downloadable resources, just go to the web site home page and click the “Login” link in the top right of the page, enter your email address and order number (or password if you have one set up) and click the “Login” button. This will take you into your account where you can click on the “Downloads” link to view the available downloads.
Please note: the downloading of movie clips from this web site is permitted only for the purpose of promoting Movie Events by Movie Event licensees. Any other use without the express written consent of WingCinema is strictly prohibited.
5. May I charge admission or sell tickets?
According to the terms of the event site license, you may not require payment for admission to showings of the film, provided, however, you may request a suggested donation for admission for fund raising purposes.
6. Where is my order?
Orders are usually shipped within a week. You will receive an email confirmation with tracking number once your order has been shipped.
7. If I request a film that is not on your web site, can you provide the license to show that film?
We are constantly working with movie studios, distributors and filmmakers to add more titles to the list of available films for Movie Events. If there is a film you are interested in licensing for a Movie Event, please let us know by using our contact form. We cannot guarantee that your requested title will be added to our list, but we appreciate your feedback.
8. Why do you provide PG-13 or R rated movies for church showings?
While the “Motion Picture Association of America” rating system is helpful, it is not necessarily the best guide to distinguish which films are appropriate from a Christian perspective. Overall, we believe that most R-rated movies are inappropriate for most audiences. However, there are many inspirational movies that contain R-rated content that is integral and appropriate to the story, such as “The Passion of the Christ,” “To End All Wars” and “Amistad,” just to name a few. We trust our customers to determine whether a film with a PG-13 or R rating will be appropriate for their audiences.
9. Can I pay by check?
No. We accept VISA, Master Card and American Express payments only.
10. How many times can I show the film for a Movie Event?
You may show the film an unlimited number of times for a 6-month period (from date of purchase), which is the term of the site license.
11. My DVD was damaged when I received it, what should I do?
If your exhibition DVD was damaged when you received it, we will exchange it at no cost to you. To report a damaged DVD, please notify us using our contact form.
12. How can I renew my Movie Event Kit Site License?
You can renew your Movie Event Kit Site License for an additional 1-year term by paying $50.00 to WingCinema, as follows: send an email to us at renewals@wingcinema.com, and include your name, the name of the Movie Event Kit you would like to renew, your original purchase order number, if available, and a phone number where you can be reached.
A WingCinema representative will phone you to obtain your renewal order and credit card payment information.
13. How can I obtain a copyright release that gives me permission to have the downloadable resources printed by a professional printer?
The Movie Event Site License that was emailed to you after you placed your order gives you permission to reproduce and use all downloadable promotional materials to advertise and promote showings of the Film, however, you are not permitted to make changes to the artwork provided on the promotional materials, other than to add your identity and contact information, and the locations, dates and times of showings of the Film. Please see Section 8 of your Movie Event Site License for more information.
